The Best Natural Acne Treatments

An issue that is common among those who have an oily skin type is acne. And while there are many treatments and medications that are designed to help get rid of acne, a large number of these come with harmful side effects. If you are interested in clearing up acne without the use of potentially harmful products, you're in luck. In this article, we will discuss the best natural acne treatments that do work.

One natural way to treat acne is to use certain essential oils. Many essential oils out there help to kill bacteria, which means that using them in skin care can help with acne that is caused by bacteria. Some of the best essential oils to use in this way include lemon oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oils.

If you are not using a face wash that you yourself have made, we suggest using your normal facial cleanser twice per day (once in the morning, and once before bed) and then following each cleanse with a homemade toner. Mix a few drops of your chosen oil with witch hazel and gently sweep this on your skin using a cotton pad. Make sure to only do this twice per day to avoid drying your skin out.

Another great natural treatment for acne? Exfoliation. Acne is often caused by dead skin cells, oil, and other debris that is trapped in the pores. Regular exfoliation helps to get rid of this debris and keep the pores clear. You can make your own facial scrub from natural ingredients, as well as a very gentle chemical peel that you can whip up using items found in your kitchen.

For a facial scrub, mix 1/2 cup coconut oil with 1 cup salt. Add a few drops of essential oil if you like. Place this in a clean jar and use it to exfoliate your face twice per week. For a homemade chemical peel, mash up a banana and mix it with plain yogurt. You can choose to use a facial scrub alone, or follow it with the chemical peel. Just make sure that you are not exfoliating more than twice per week, as this can cause your skin to overproduce oil and make acne worse.

Honey is another natural acne treatment. Raw honey contains anti-inflammatory properties that can help with the redness and swelling that those with acne may experience. And unlike most acne medications, honey is not known to cause peeling or drying of the skin. We recommend using honey in a homemade facial wash. Mix it with lemon and leave it on your face for no less than ten minutes. Wash this off using warm water.

Make sure to follow up with a good acne cream to keep your skin moisturized. Keeping your face clean can make it dry, which just means more irritation. Whenever you pick skin care products make sure you go with all-natural. Chemicals added to cheap products aren't good for acne prone skin.

Other natural ways to help with acne are sufficient sleep and a balanced diet. Be careful about what you put into your body, and make sure that you get enough rest each night to help your skin to become and stay clear. Drinking enough water and staying away from sugary sodas and other drinks can help you to flush your system and see fewer breakouts as well. Good luck!
